Find the Right Lubricant by Equipment and Duty

A lubricant is selected for a machine and service condition, not by colour or brand name alone. Start with the equipment manual or OEM specification.

Industrial Lubricant Categories

Hydraulic oils

Hydraulic fluid transmits power while supporting wear protection, oxidation control, air release and system cleanliness. Selection should follow the equipment requirement and operating temperature. A higher or lower viscosity is not automatically an upgrade.

Industrial gear oils

Industrial gear lubricants protect gear teeth and bearings under specified load, speed and temperature. Enclosed spur, helical, bevel and worm gear systems may require different characteristics. Confirm the OEM requirement, grade and compatibility before changing products.

Compressor oils

Compressor lubricant selection depends on compressor design, gas being compressed, discharge temperature, separation requirements and manufacturer guidance. Reciprocating, rotary screw and other compressor types should not be grouped under one generic oil recommendation.

Greases and specialty fluids

Grease selection considers base oil viscosity, thickener, consistency, load, speed, temperature, water exposure and relubrication method. Specialty needs may include turbine oils, heat transfer fluids, metalworking fluids, transformer oils or wire rope products.

How We Match a Lubricant

  1. Identify the equipment, component and OEM lubricant requirement.
  2. Confirm viscosity grade, performance specification and any required approval.
  3. Review operating temperature, load, speed, water, dust and contamination risk.
  4. Compare the current product and check compatibility before topping up or changing.
  5. Confirm pack size, quantity, delivery point, document needs and changeover plan.

Technical note: ISO 3448 provides the viscosity classification system used for industrial liquid lubricants. Viscosity grade is one selection input. It does not by itself confirm performance, compatibility or OEM acceptance.

Lubricant Brands and Product Families

Epoxy Oilserv’s current catalogue includes Shell and LubeMax lubricant families alongside industrial grease and specialty fluids. Only active, verified products should appear on this page. Each product card should state the exact name, application, grade, pack size, supply status, technical documents and quotation action. Any authorisation, approval or certification claim requires current supporting evidence.

Oil Analysis and Lubrication Support

Used oil analysis can support condition monitoring when results are trended with sampling practice, operating hours, equipment condition and maintenance history. It should not be treated as a single pass or fail test. Submit the equipment, lubricant, sampling point and operating hours when requesting interpretation support.

Supply, Documents and Delivery in Nigeria

For a current quotation, send the product name or equipment requirement, grade, pack size, quantity, delivery location and required date. If the product is for vendor approval or a regulated application, state the TDS, SDS, certificate of analysis format, OEM approval or other qualification documents needed. Epoxy Oilserv supports customers through its Nigerian office and warehouse network, with availability and delivery confirmed per product and destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you recommend an equivalent to my current lubricant?

Provide the full current product name, equipment manual or required specification, operating condition and reason for the change. An equivalent should be checked against the complete requirement, not viscosity alone.

What information is needed for an industrial lubricant quote?

Send the product or equipment, grade or specification, pack size, quantity, delivery location and required date. Add TDS, SDS or qualification requirements if they are part of the purchase.

Can I choose an oil using only the ISO viscosity grade?

No. The viscosity grade narrows the range, but the equipment specification, performance level, operating condition and compatibility must also be checked.
